One billion women are survivors of rape and abuse.
One Billion Rising is an international campaign run by women, for women. It is a movement which calls for an end to violence and gender inequality. The crux of One Billion Rising is a one-day event held on February 14, for women around the world to join together in a dance of collective strength.

Cape Town based event planners, Sway Events, are hosting an official V-Day event in Cape Town this year, and have enlisted the talents of local band Touch Wood, and a mixed crew of Cape Town film crew to create a promotion video for One Billion Rising. Filmed at the disused Tafelberg High School for Girls, the short narrative echoes the call to action of One Billion Rising: for men and women to rise up against abuse, to unite in dance, and stand up against this ugly statistic.
